Physical activity has been shown to help treat and prevent many chronic diseases, and helps to improve mood, energy levels, and cognition – proving that in fact, Exercise is Medicine! (link to exerciseismedicine.org).
Illinois State University’s Exercise is Medicine on Campus is a referral-based program that provides ISU students with opportunities for private, individualized physical activity training and programming developed and implemented by faculty and students in the School of KNR. We aim to provide opportunities not found elsewhere to help reduce barriers and enhance motivation for physical activity.
We take the vision of the ACSM Exercise is Medicine - On Campus initiative and apply it to Illinois State University's campus. The School of Kinesiology and Recreation, Campus Recreation, Health Promotion and Wellness, Student Counseling Services, and Student Health Services all collaborate to provide optimal physical activity opportunities for our students. EIMOC helps to achieve the School of KNR vision: an enhanced quality of life for all through active and healthy lifestyles.
