Individual training sessions with EIMOC staff require a referral from Student Health Services or Counseling Services. Here is how to get started.
Initial appointments take approximately 30 minutes and may occur at student health services or in McCormick Hall. The location of the initial appointment will depend on who refers your – but EIMOC staff or your health care provider will let you know ahead of time. If you are unsure of the location of your initial appointment, please email kmlagal@ilstu.edu.
At this appointment, EIMOC staff will talk with you about your goals, challenges, and motivation for exercise. EIMOC staff will provide more information about the program, and you’ll be asked to complete paperwork, including a medical history form and informed consent. Following this appointment, you will receive a welcome email with additional information and a questionnaire that will be used to pair you with a trainer.
After your first appointment, you'll start your private training sessions with our knowledgeable and experienced Kinesiology and Recreation students and faculty. Group training sessions are also available.
Each session is personalized for your goals, your needs and your schedule.
EIMOC is committed to providing a physical activity environment within which all employees, faculty, students, volunteers and others are treated with respect and that is free of harassment. The EIMOC program at ISU prohibits conduct that is disrespectful, disparaging or unprofessional as well as harassment based on race, color, national origin or ancestry, religious creed, age, pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions, marital or family status, assigned sex, gender (including gender identity and gender expression), sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information or any other basis protected by federal or state law.
Sessions typically lasts 30-60 minutes and occur twice a week for 6-8 weeks. At that time, you and your trainer will collaborate to evaluate your progress and determine the best next step – whether that be self-led exercise or continued supervised training.
As part of the EIMOC program, you will have the opportunity to attend optional group sessions and supervised open lab sessions for additional physical activity options. You will receive regular email information about the program and resources to help keep you moving each semester and during breaks.
You are always in control of your EIMOC experience – if it doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t work for us. Don’t hesitate to email the supervisor, Dr. Lagally, at kmlagal@ilstu.edu with any questions, suggestions, or concerns that you have.
We want you to be successful and comfortable during your program. If there's something that's not meeting your expectations, make sure to let us know.
At the end of your program, you and EMIOC staff will discuss your progress and options to continue physical activity.
